The Foundation of Friends are pleased to announce that more than 2500 euros were raised at their xmas fayre which was held at Aloha Gardens Multi-Sports Centre on the 10th December.  The Foundation would like to thank all their friends and supporters including the Stage Coach carol singers who helped make the event such a success.

Ian Lockyer from the Aloha Gardens Multi-Sports Club said “we had the best time ever, having fun with the children whilst the parents enjoyed mulled wine and christmas carols.  Better still, we helped raise a fantastic amount of money to support children with leukaemia in hospital.”

This year seems to have gone by in a flash and it seems hard to imagine that The Foundation of Friends is fast approaching it’s first anniversary! In less than a year we have enjoyed organising a number of fund raising family events including an Easter Parade & Family Fun Day, Reggae Night, Foundation Football Tournament, Sports & Family Fun Day, House Party, Rocky Horror Show and Xmas Fayre and with your help have managed to donate nearly ten thousand euros to support AVOI (children with leukemia)  and CRECE (children with downs syndrome).
Everything that the Foundation of Friends stands for is best demonstrated by the unstinting support of so many that give of their time so generously, none more so than Ian & Elaine Lockyer and team at Aloha Gardens Multi Sports Club who have been outstanding supporters of ‘The Foundation’ throughout 2010.
In commiting themselves to the ideal of helping children less fortunate than themselves we should also express our appreciation of the IB Students from Swan’s School who have chosen to become actively involved in helping to raise funds on behalf of children and in furthering their understanding of the needs of others.
Other and by no means less important supporters of The Foundation of Friends include, Mark and team at Eyeprint, Eileen Knight PR Consultant and Rachel Collister, Thomas Steinmetz, Warren Webley & Stagecoach, Danni Worth at Op de Beeck & Worth, Paul at Marbella Entertainments, Anya & Claire at Marbella Mealtime, Carl & Angeline at Naga, Nina B, Lawrence at La Casita and it must not go without saying that we owe our very existence Fernando Del Canto, Jose Manuel …. and all at Konsilia, without whom none of this might be possible. Thank you also to those who have made a significant contribution although no longer involved, including Michael Ludbrook of Pasta Cafe and the indominatable Michelle Gascoine. Thank you also to our media supporters including Sur in English, Costa Del Sol News and Essential magazine, and many more!
The danger in making ‘lists’ is that someone might not be included and if that is the case then I must humbly apologise to anyone who has lent a hand this year, including the Cosgrove’s and indeed our own boys – thanks guys! On the other hand, such a fine list of amazing people does help to demonstrate what it takes to make what we do actually happen, so thank you all again most sincerely.
We are planning a schedule of events for the year ahead to include padelt tennis tournament, family sports day, Foundation football tournament and some new ideas!
Happy New Year and looking forward to more fun and fund raising on behalf of The Foundation of Friends in 2011.

 On Saturday 11th September a number of local spanish and ex-pat teams took part in an Under 10’s and Under 12’s football tournament called The Foundation Cup. This was hosted by COSTA UNIDA Football Club at their ground in San Pedro on behalf of The Foundation of Friends. The event was supported by lots of enthusiastic parents who donated generously.

Jamie Fullarton of Costa Unida said

“the tournament was a great success for a worthy cause and I would like to thank all the teams who took part along with their supporters”.

 Following this event The Foundation of Friends will make a donation of the money raised to AVOI, the volunteer association that helps children with leukemia in the hospital at Materno de Infantil in Malaga.

Sat amongst the swaying palm trees with the moon shining on the sea, the guests were treated to the tastes of the Caribbean, a wonderfully prepared hog roast accompanied by homemade apple sauce and Jamaican rice.

From donations from the ticket price and the sale of raffle tickets 505 Euros were raised on the night on behalf of The Foundation of Friends.

Jayne and Dave Baldwin, owners of Vista Del Mar would like to thank all that attended and gave so freely to The Foundation of Friends, and they look forward to the next event.

The afternoon was a great success raising 500 GBP on behalf of The Foundation.

The money will form part of a donation to AVOI and CRECE to be made next month.

Donations were received by The Foundation of Friends from the evening, and we would like to express our thanks to the guests, Mealtime Marbella and The Passionate Chef for their generous support.
